11th March

In Hakone, everything is okay.

However, we are deeply-distressed by the earthquakes on 11th March in eastern Japan.

We strongly hope that all pepole in earthquake-stricken area would be rescued.

Japanese Style 04: Hina Matsuri

Today, 3rd March is the day of "Hina Matsuri".

It is the Japanese traditional festival in March.
"Hina Matsui" may be translated as Doll Festival and is a day to wish for good health of girls  ---boys are celebrated on Children's day in May.


The origin of Hina Matsuri dates back more than 1,000 years. People used to float dolls which would take away bad lucks down the river.  
Nobility displayed Hina dolls and later, the festival spread among ordinary people. 

A set of dolls representing the emperor and  empress, their attendants and miniature furniture on a five ore seven red steps.
Peach branchs  and other spring flowers are also displayed we enjoy the festival of spring with white sake and sweets related to Hina Matsuri.

At Gakueirou Matsuzakaya ryokan, we displayed a lot of type of Hina Dolls.
